Bass is the most sought after species. The gullies in the shore rocks are regularly patrolled by bass searching for crabs, prawns and other fish prey. Bass will take bait legered on the sea bed, float fished and artificial spun through the water. The first method is the one most often practised off shore, the other two need calm conditions and a fishing position several feet above sea level, i.e. jetty or rocks. Bass are usually taken from mid May to October - August being the best time.
When fishing safety is of parmount importance, care should taken where any dangers could occour, such as fishing of rocks, jetties, check local tide times, don't take risks and tell someone the time you are exspected home.
