Chiropractic is a branch of mainstream health care which identifies and treats a wide range of musculoskeletal problems. Chiropractors use aspects of neurological, orthopaedic, medical and specifically chiropractic techniques to identify the cause of a problem. Chiropractors then decide whether the condition is one that will respond favourably to chiropractic treatment. If so, a course of treatment begins whereby the source of pain is identified and addressed. This commonly means that a joint which is causing pain and irritation is 'adjusted' to alleviate these symptoms. A chiropractor will also address the cause of the problem as well as providing advice on how to maximise the benefit of treatment and lessen the chance of recurrence.
