The Aberystwyth Cliff Railway was built in 1896, the railway is approx 192m long and rises to a height of 100m above sea level. It once operated on a water balance system until conversion to electrical power in 1921. A powerful motor and high-tensile steel cables, supported by a sophisticated electronic safety system, haul the carriages to the summit at a stately speed of 4 miles per hour.
Constitution Hill
At the northern end of Aberystwyth promenade Constitution Hill rises dramatically (100m above sea level) to provide a spectacular viewpoint.
