Gentleman's Walk (3.7 mile)
Start of the walk is 1 mile from the Car Park
The Gentleman's Walk, the second celebrated Picturesque circuit created by Johnes, passes through wilder scenery and steeper ground than other walks at Hafod. The starting point for this walk is the Alpine Bridge. To reach it follow the Lady’s Walk anti-clockwise via Hawthorn Cottage and the Mansion Fields. After crossing the Alpine Bridge, turn left heading uphill. It is possible to shorten (or lengthen) the route by following various link paths, or other track ways.
Particular highlights on the walk are the beech tree grove at Pant Melyn, the Cavern Cascade, the Tunnel, the Mossy Seat Falls and bridge, and the rustic bridge over the Bwlchgwallter Stream.
Please note that the Gentleman's Walk is the most strenuous of the Hafod Walks, and should only be attempted by those of reasonable fitness wearing footwear suitable for steep and uneven ground.
