Aberystwyth rowing club is the premier rowing club in the Wales Longboat league Cymru. During the 2001 season Aberystwyth won the overall club trophy by winning the Senior Men, Veteran Men, and the Womens titles whilst coming second and third in the Mixed category.
Celtic Challenge
Every two years the Celtic Challenge Longboat Rowing Race takes place, starting at Arklow, Co. Wicklow and finishes at Aberystwyth. The Distance between the two towns is approximately 90 miles, taking from anywhere between 15 to 24 hours to complete, depending on weather conditions. This race is a massive test of endurance and strength, which attracts rowers form Ireland, England, Wales and as far afield as Germany.
The Boats
The Longboats have four fixed seats for Rowers and one seat for the Cox.
