National Library of Wales, opened 15th July 1937. It now holds a vast collection of the nations heritage, if your researching your family history or have an interest in genealogy the National Library is a great place to start your search of the census. The Library holds nearly four million books and is only one of six copyright libraries
in the UK.
Other items of interest to find in the largest library in Wales, are some of the most important Welsh publications, these include the The Black Book of Carmarthen the first book to be printed in Welsh. Also books, publications and other printed material on Welsh life and heritage, over a million maps to research field boundaries and old dwellings, along with thousands of photographs many of these pictures are of the earliest documented in Wales, paintings portraying Welsh life and scenery and the sound and video recordings, documenting and telling the story of Welsh life on screen.
Come and take a look around the National Library of Wales, exhibitions and exhibits are displayed throughout the year and entry is free, once you have seen the fascinating and rare books on display you can enjoy a well earned rest in the canteen, where refreshments and food are available.

Designed by Sidney Kyffin Greenslade, assisted by Reginald Bloomfield and carried out in stages under Adams, Holden and Pearson. Occupation started in 1916; central block opened in 1937 and the final section of the original design opened in 1955.
A square plan composed of 4 3-storey ranges around 4 rectangular courtyards formed by the central entrance hall, main staircase and transverse corridor link ranges. Exterior is in an Art Deco/Greek Classical style; West and South fronts are faced in Portland stone and Cornish granite, the North and East are brick with Portland dressing. The roofs are half hipped with glazing to the top. A broad 11-bay main block; central 5-bays are advanced. Recessed central entrance bay with fluted Ionic columns in antis flanking 2nd floor window frame and balcony brought forward over advanced porch.

Founded in 1999, the Aberystwyth and District Archaeological Society exists to actively encourage interest and participation in archaeology in Aberystwyth and the surrounding area.
The Society meets on one Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm in Merched y Wawr, Vulcan Street, Aberystwyth. The majority of meetings feature a guest speaker.
The Archives collects, preserves and makes available to the public all sorts of records about the history of Ceredigion, which is the county formerly known as Cardiganshire.
Everyone is welcome to come to the Archives to do research - on family history, local history, school projects, old vehicle registration and many other subjects.

The Royal Commission has a national role in the management of the archaeological, built and maritime heritage of Wales as the originator, curator and supplier of authoritative information for individual, corporate and governmental decision-makers, researchers and the general public.
Everyone is welcome to visit the National Monuments Record of Wales (NMRW) & Library which holds the national collection of information about the archaeological, architectural and historical heritage of Wales and provides a public information service, drawing on both archival and published sources and benefiting from specialist advice from RCAHMW staff.
