Aberystwyth University formerly the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, is Wales premier university located in Aberystwyth, Wales. One of the first university institutions to be established in Wales.
To date the University has well over 12,000 students, across seventeen academic departments.
The National Student Survey named Aberystwyth University fifth in the UK in 2006 and tenth in 2007, for overall student satisfaction. Making Aberystwyth University the out right leader in Wales for both years. A survey by the Times Good University Guide 2008 ranked Aberystwyth joint first in the UK for student satisfaction. It also ranked Aberystwyth 39th in the Academic league tables out of 113 academic institutions.

Aberystwyth University came top with a score of 64 per cent, scoring very well on the following "community" and "going out".
The various student residences owned, managed or leased by Aberystwyth University offer nearly 4,000 bed spaces. The mixture of halls and shared apartment style accommodation, all feature wired access to Aberystwyth University's computer network and a support network of wardens.
